  • What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractors understand that misalignment and abnormal motion of the vertebrae in the spinal column, known as a subluxation, is one of the primary causes of pain and disease. Chiropractic works by removing these subluxations in the spine, relieving nerve pressure and irritation, restoring joint mobility, and restoring the body to normal function.

Numerous studies have shown that chiropractic care is one of the most effective treatments for back pain, neck pain, headaches, whiplash, sports injuries, and a variety of other musculoskeletal issues. It has even been proven to be useful in lowering blood pressure, reducing the incidence of children’s ear infections, and alleviating asthma symptoms. More and more scientific study is proving the tremendously negative influence that subluxation has on our body’s tissue. In order to be healthy, your nervous system must be free of interference from subluxations. Chiropractors are the only health providers who have received training in detecting, locating, and correcting vertebral subluxation complexes through chiropractic care.

A chiropractic adjustment is a quick thrust to a vertebra in order to correct its alignment, movement, or both. Adjustments are frequently accompanied by an audible gas release that sounds like a “crack” or “pop”. The sound can startle people the first few times they are adjusted, but the sensation is usually soothing. Minor discomfort is occasionally felt, particularly if the surrounding muscles are in spasm or the patient tenses up during the chiropractic procedure. There are times when there is no audible ‘cracking.’ This is frequently due to either significant muscle tightness or the patient’s inability to relax during their adjustments.

This section contains information about the history of chiropractic, how wellness and medical treatment vary, and what an “adjustment” is, and how it is utilized in a chiropractor’s practice.
